GITA CLASSES IN THE LOS ANGELES AREA~

next class in Pasadena

JULY 21-27, 2014!

Swami Nikhilanand, a disciple of Jagadguru Shree Kripalu Ji Maharaj, presents this unique 7-day Bhagavad Gita course twice a year in the Los Angeles area. The fun and interactive format allows the whole family to learn the most important topics of the Bhagavad Gita one chapter at a time. The course, held daily in the evenings from 7:00 to 8:30 pm, is unique because it allows adults and children (age 6 & up) to learn the philosophy of the Bhagavad Gita together in the same class. This is possible due to the innovative format which encourages questions and allows the interest of the students to drive the direction of the class.

Kids get to have their long-standing questions about Hinduism answered, and clear doubts and confusions about Hindu philosophy. This helps them to grow pride in Hinduism and feel comfortable being Hindu. It is fascinating for adults to watch how quickly youth and kids are able to grasp the concepts of the Bhagavad Gita. Although adults freely participate in question and answer sessions and discussions with Swami Nikhilanand, they are particularly inspired by the childrens’ insightful questions.

He has refined the format to appeal to both young and old by focusing on the highlights of each chapter of the Bhagavad Gita (one chapter is covered each day) with emphasis on how to live the philosophy in your daily life. Worksheets are provided for those who wish to have a summary in note form of the day’s topics. Each day also includes tips on meditation for all ages, a quiz on the day’s material in the form of a friendly game of Jeopardy, arti, and dinner prasad. Asked what the most impressive thing about the classes is, Swami Nikhilanand replied,

“It’s the way the kids want to come back day after day. They are the ones pulling their parents to get there on time so they don’t miss anything. Just bring them for one day and you’ll see. That is my challenge to parents.”
